We started The Monologue back in November 2020. Both of us, Muse and Cage (themusicsoul and cagetheheart) have a past and ongoing journey with our own personal mental healths as well as being strong advocates for it, but realized that we wanted to reach a wider community than just the people around us. We knew that there were a lot of mental health websites around, so we wanted to incorporate something that we both love- writing. What we didn’t realize when we first started was that a lot of people who struggle with their mental health or are simply just advocates are also writers, but we grew to learn that like us, many use writing as a healthy way of coping.
Our goal at The Monologue is to create an open conversation about mental health in an effort to end the stigma that surrounds it by interviewing those who have a personal journey with mental health. For those who chose not to share/don’t have a journey with mental health, we offer a writing-only interview because we as writers understand that it’s frustrating to not get the recognition you deserve for your hard work. The last type of interview we offer is one for organizations that are founded on the basis of mental health awareness, which has slightly different questions from the other interviews.
We keep all of our interviews 100% candid and truthful to our interviewee- we don’t fix anything other than grammatical errors in order to keep the conversation as open and honest as we can, Other than interviews, on our website you can find: The Dialogue (A forum with weekly journal prompts and a place for others to interact with each other) and monthly posts that center around a given mental illness/health topic.

We hope that you check out all of the features on our website, follow our social media, sign up for our monthly newsletter, and share your story to help us open the conversation and break the stigma on mental health. To help us, please consider joining our team and becoming an ambassador!

Sincerely,
